United States President - James Monroe
Ash Lawn-Highland
Charlottesville, Virginia
|
White Oak trees were planted on the property for lumber production, several of which still remain today. One of those has an estimated age of three to four hundred years old, and has witnessed the entirety of American history from what would become James Monroe's estate. In March of 2008, a few large limbs of this tree were removed and made available to artisians to repurpose this historical wood.
