In 1909, England had purchased a load of large timber that was to be used in the construction of ships for the Queens Navy. The wood was harvested and loaded in the state of Washington, but a storm hit Grays Harbor and the ship and lumber went down. After 90 years, the ties securing the load deteriorated and the lumber broke free. The logs then rose to the surface and washed up on shore. The lumber was identified because of their stamp “HRM” – Her Royal Majesty.
